Beginning in 2017, we pivoted our focus to the development of cutting-edge NVMe storage and connectivity solutions, marking a significant shift in our product strategy. HighPoint PCIe Gen5 and Gen4 NVMe storage solutions are powered by our High-Performance PCIe Switching Architecture, and are designed to address the dynamic requirements of AI applications, Data Centers, Edge Servers, and high-end workstation and desktop platforms, enabling customers to keep pace with today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Controller IC & Software Solutions

  • Licenses Bus Master Device Driver for Intel’s Pentium Chipset

  • Licenses CD/DVD-ROM Software to SONY, Hitachi, NEC, Mitsubishi, Sanyo, LG

  • Introduces HPT366 – The industry’s first ATA66 embedded ATA66 controller. This chipset is adopted by leading motherboard vendors including ABIT, I will, and ECS. Well over a million HPT366 are sold, establishing HighPoint as a major player in the PC storage market.

Following the debut of the groundbreaking HPT3xx series of IDE/ATA controller ICs in 1995, HighPoint has consistently delivered pioneering products for every subsequent storage interface evolution.

The company has a history of introducing industry-first solutions, including the first onboard RAID controllers, commercially available SATA RAID AICs, cost-effective RAID-on-Chip Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), and port-dense SAS/SATA interface RAID and connectivity solutions, culminating in today’s premier NVMe AIC and Adapter portfolio.

HighPoint is renowned for manufacturing the industry’s densest single-AIC storage and connectivity solutions for x86 Intel and AMD PC platforms. These innovative designs can incorporate up to 48 independent device ports into a single PCIe device. From the SATAII era to the current generations of SAS/SATA and NVMe, HighPoint has consistently maximized port count without compromising transfer bandwidth or signal integrity.

High-Performance PCIe Switching Architecture

HighPoint’s pioneering electronic board architecture maximizes available host bandwidth and per-device port count by leveraging state-of-the-art PCIe switch technology to optimize transfer performance, minimize latency and facilitate consistent, reliable I/O throughput in the most demanding working environments. This approach has enabled HighPoint storage solutions to overcome the limitations of conventional AIC and HBA solutions, which are often prone to severe performance bottlenecks and signal degradation due to their complete reliance on the host computing platform for resource allocation.

HighPoint RAID solutions enable customers to leverage cutting-edge RAID technology and an unparalleled storage health monitoring and management suite designed to maximize the performance, reliability and serviceability of hosted storage configurations.

Our comprehensive RAID and Storage Management and Monitoring suite was developed to streamline the deployment and service of storage assets, and simplify administration at both the OS level and pre-OS environments with a selection of intuitive toolsets. Robust features such as Hot-Plug & Hot-Swap capability, TCG SED encryption, RAID expansion and migration, RAID roaming, and multi-RAID / Multi-RAID device support provide unprecedented flexibility and control over hosted disks and arrays.  

 

Robust Enclosure Management Solutions for Datacenter and Server Environments: Enclosure management is critical aspect of professional datacenter and server applications. The ability to closely monitor system and storage hardware, including backplane connectivity, cabling hardware and cooling appratus, is key to maintaining a healthy hardware environment. HighPoint’s robust storage enclosure management solutions employ a comprehensive real-time monitoring and alert service designed to work in conjunction with our enterprise-grade chassis architecture, innovative SED suite, advanced cooling systems and proven RAID & Storage software interfaces to protect storage investments against the risks of overheating, power outages and unauthorized access, and promote the continuous operation of the host computing platform. Administrators will full control over fan speed, audible alarms and LED indication, and can customize temperature thresholds for each individual disk and target applications.

Proactive Temperature Control & Monitoring; HighPoint SHI (Storage Health Inspector): SHI (storage health inspector) is a key feature of HighPoint storage solutions. The service is integrated into the WebGUI and CLI (command line utility) interfaces and enables administrators to monitor the temperature and endurance of storage media in real time via S.M.A.R.T. (self-monitoring analysis and reporting technology). Viewing the details for each device enables threshold configuration; temperatures can be adjusted to correspond with the manufacturer’s official specifications, and the SHI service can be instructed to notify one or more administrators whenever a critical threshold is crossed.
